# Find Compute (np find / np node find)

> Discover available compute hosts, hardware capacity, and real-time hourly and monthly pricing.

Search and discover available bare metal compute hosts matching specific hardware specifications, regions, and pricing limits.

## Syntax

You can run compute discovery using either the top-level shortcut `np find` or `np node find`:

```bash theme={null}
np find [options]
# or
np node find [options]
```

## Options

| Option | Short | Description | Default |
| - | - | - | - |
| `--cpu` | `-c` | Minimum CPU cores required | `1` |
| `--memory` | `-m` | Minimum RAM in gigabytes (GB) | `1` |
| `--storage` | `-s` | Minimum disk storage in gigabytes (GB) | `10` |
| `--max-price` | `-p` | Maximum monthly budget in USD | None |
| `--region` | `-r` | Filter by target region (e.g. `us-west-1`, `fmt1`) | None |
| `--datacenter` | | Filter by datacenter facility code (e.g. `fmt1`) | None |
| `--status` | | Filter by host status: `active`, `reserved`, `all` | `active` |
| `--format` | `-f` | Output format (`table` or `json`) | `table` |

## Output Columns

The table output shows the **requested slice specifications** (RAM, CPU, and Disk) for which pricing was evaluated, along with real-time hourly and monthly pricing:

| Column | Description |
| - | - |
| `Host ID` | Unique UUID of the compute host |
| `Region` | Geographic region of the host |
| `Datacenter` | Specific facility code |
| `RAM (GB)` | Requested RAM for the compute slice |
| `Disk (GB)` | Requested disk storage for the slice |
| `CPU (Cores)` | Requested vCPU cores for the slice |
| `Price/hr ($)` | Estimated hourly USD rate |
| `Price/mo ($)` | Estimated monthly USD rate (\~730 hours/month) |

<Note>
  The `RAM (GB)`, `Disk (GB)`, and `CPU (Cores)` columns reflect the requested resources corresponding to the slice price, not the total bare metal capacity of the underlying host server. To view total host hardware capacity, use `--format json`.
</Note>

## Examples

<CodeGroup>
  ```bash Default Search theme={null}
  # Discover active hosts with baseline slice specs (1 vCPU, 1 GB RAM, 10 GB Disk)
  np find
  ```

  ```bash Custom Hardware Requirements theme={null}
  # Discover hosts with at least 4 vCPUs, 8 GB RAM, and 50 GB storage
  np find -c 4 -m 8 -s 50
  ```

  ```bash Budget Filter theme={null}
  # Filter for hosts with a monthly rate of $20 or less in us-west-1
  np find -c 2 -m 4 -s 20 -p 20 -r us-west-1
  ```

  ```bash JSON Output theme={null}
  # Output machine-readable JSON for scripting
  np find -c 2 -m 4 -f json
  ```
